Volcanic lava flows into the city of Iceland

A second volcano erupted in Iceland. The volcano erupted in the Reykenes region on Sunday (January 14) morning. As a result, volcanic lava entered the locality of the city. This information was reported in a BBC report on Monday (January 15).

Early Sunday morning, two nearby volcanoes in the Reykjavik region erupted. The lava coming out of this fissure has entered Grindavik. As a result, around 4,000 residents of the city have been evacuated safely.

A few houses in the city were burnt by the lava fire. A video broadcast by the BBC showed a house engulfed in flames by the lava. No casualties were reported as residents were evacuated.

The city of Iceland was hit by hundreds of earthquakes in a few days. As a result, the volcano has risen. The volcano erupted a month ago. It became active again on Sunday.

About 3,800 people live in Grindavik, Iceland. All of them were evacuated due to the eruption. The city was hit by an earthquake in November last year. All citizens of the city were evacuated at that time as well. Later in December they returned home. This time, as the lava has entered the city, there is a fear of returning to their homes.

The local administration of the country said that it is not possible to understand the situation there until the eruption stops.

Iceland's president said the government stands by the victims. However, the extent of the damage cannot be measured right now.

The country's Meteorological Department said that the first eruption from the volcano took place at 7:57 am on Sunday. The incident happened 50 kilometers away from the capital of Iceland. Due to this, warnings have been issued throughout the city.
